The REVEAL Ultra Camera is the most advanced camera Tactacam has ever made. Packed with features that define the ultimate in trail cam performance, the Ultra takes the best of the Pro 3.0 and supercharges it.

New features include live streaming, selectable low-glow and no-glow flash and Active GPS.

The creation of the Ultra came about following extensive research, breakthroughs in technology, and long days in the field refining hunting strategies and talking to hunters.

Versatile Trail Cam: Switch from Low-Glow to No-Glow in the App

Coming in at the top of the Ultra’s new features is the ability to switch from low-glow to no-glow flash in the app–an industry breakthrough.

This is like giving hunters two cameras in one, said Taylor Clark, Tactacam’s product manager—hunt.

“That makes this a very versatile camera,” Clark said.

The low-glow flash is an 850 nanometer infrared flash that emits a subtle red glow when activated. This light is faint and may go undetected by animals; the payoff is brighter nighttime images and a flash that reaches further than cameras with a no-glow flash. That makes low-glow the perfect choice for nighttime images in large open areas, large food plots, or the edge of an agricultural field where detection is less of an issue.

The no-glow flash, meanwhile, uses a 940 nanometer infrared flash that is invisible to most animals and even humans. While no-glow flash won’t illuminate objects as far away as low-glow will, its invisible flash makes it perfect for use in smaller areas, such as pinch points or small water sources.

“It will work in a wide variety of situations,” Clark said.

The idea to combine both flashes into one camera came about two years ago when the high admittance 940 nanometer LED became available, said Mario Bonardi, Tactacam’s senior vice president of product.

“That made it realistic to put a low-glow and no-glow flash capability in a camera and not have it take up extra space,” he said.

Live Stream Trail Cam: See the Action Live

“Customers had been asking for live streaming for a long time,” Bonardi said.

While the technology that would allow live streaming has been available, it’s been expensive or it resulted in the batteries draining too quickly. In addition to adding live stream, the Ultra provides the ability to immediately switch to live stream even if an on-demand photo is in the process of being requested.

“We designed the camera so it can interrupt the trigger process,” Bonardi said. “This allows the live feed to be accessed when animals are in front of the camera–which is when you would want the live feed the most.”

R&D at Tactacam was able to build this new feature into the Ultra and maintain REVEAL’s traditionally low pricing thanks to clever engineering and a dedication to our customers. The Live View add-on to your REVEAL account unlocks this feature.

Active GPS: Added Security for Your Camera

Active GPS, meanwhile, faced the same hurdles–inserting the technology into the camera while also maintaining value pricing, small camera size, and almost no impact on battery life while in normal operation.

Active GPS is a loss-prevention tool that the camera deploys automatically if the battery pack is removed from the camera or if the camera moves more than a half-mile from where it was activated. (The feature can easily be turned off in the app.) Specifically designed to thwart theft, this can help camera owners whose camera is removed from its original location or if the camera owner simply realizes one spring they forgot where they hung their camera back in the fall.

Bonardi said that was made possible through the use of a small lithium-ion battery that only activates GPS when the camera is moved. The notification sends owners coordinates of where the camera is, and if the owner has Xtra, the camera’s location will show in the app map.
