Key to getting the most out of your DEFEND camera is working to maximize the camera’s battery life. By maximizing the battery life, you will get the best performance from your unit for the longest amount of time, and save money, time, and hassle in the end. Let’s look at how to get the longest battery life from your DEFEND.

DEFEND Camera Power Options

There are four ways to power your Tactacam DEFEND Camera:

  • Individual AA batteries: Every DEFEND camera comes with a battery tray that allows you to install 12 store-bought AA batteries.
  • Rechargeable battery pack: DEFEND owners also have the option to upgrade to a rechargeable battery. The rechargeable battery is a cartridge that takes the place of the AA battery trays. It is rechargeable using a USB-C cable.
  • Solar panel: DEFEND users can also upgrade their experience using the DEFEND solar panel. This 5200 mAH external solar panel measures roughly 10x7 inches and weighs less than 2 pounds. It includes a mounting bracket and a cord that connects to the DEFEND Camera.
  • Solar and rechargeable batteries: The DEFEND Camera can be set up to run on solar power, with the solar panel charging the rechargeable battery.
